Looking forward to an exciting British tour with the Rio Piano trio in October. Our concerts will showcase music by some of South America’s most celebrated musical figures: Heitor Villa-Lobos, regarded as the most significant creative figure in 20th-century Brazilian music. is featured alongside the legendary Argentinian composer Astor Piazzola who redefined Tango for the modern age, infusing it with new energy and character.

The Trio will also present music by César Guerra-Peixe and Edmundo Villani-Côrtes, both of whom drew inspiration from the vibrant folk traditions of Brazil's north-east region. The jazz-infused music of Radamés Gnattali completes the musical diversity which the Rio Piano Trio bring to their programmes.

The second of our concerts in and around London is in the historic church of All Saints in Kingston-upon-Thames as part of the Kingston chamber concerts series. The present church is a Grade I listed building, recently restored and redecorated. The oldest parts date from the 14th century, but the first church on the site was Saxon, mentioned in King Egbert’s Great Chronicle of 838. Certainly two, possibly five further Saxon kings were crowned here, including Athelstan, grandson of Alfred the Great, on 4th September 925. He was the first king of the whole of present-day England – hence All Saint’s strapline ‘Where England began’.
